The dissertation looks at the consumption of traditional and renewable sources of energy in the UK. Literature is reviewed on the kinds of renewable energy, the nature of environmentalism, the business opportunities for renewable energy sources (RES) projects in different countries, European “green” policies, an alternative energy market in the UK, etc. The methodology of the research is based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of the secondary data collected from statistic agencies, databases and industrial reports. Conclusions are made about the dynamics of the overall energy consumption in the UK, the consumption of energy from conventional sources including oil, natural gas and coil, and the RES consymption. Forecasts are made about the future trends in the consumption of different types of energy.
