The paper looks at oil and gas as a factor influencing international relations considering the implications of political and economic power gained by transnational oil companies. It is argued that oil TNC maintain the needs of the elite and pose a threat to energy security. The abuse of power by oil companies in Nigeria is discussed using the example of Shell and addressing ethical issues confronting the oil industry.
