It is quite clear that music plays a very important role in our daily lives. Technology is now at the forefront of distributing music to billions of people across the globe. The music industry is now a multibillion dollar empire and keeps growing by the day. In the UK, there have been a number of technological innovations that has made it easy to access music online. Millions of people now own at least an MP3 player, an i Pod, CD player and burner, a computer and a mobile phone. Mobile phones have flooded the UK market in recent years, such that almost every person can afford one, and this has made communications easier. The primary purpose of a mobile phone is telecommunications, however, there are so many other functions that a mobile phone can perform. Full track wireless downloading of music via mobile phones is an important function that a lot of UK residents are not taking advantage of. It is against this background that this research project seeks to find answers on why people are not taking advantage of the technology and businesses available for the downloading of full track music direct onto their mobile phones. The details of the findings and any recommendations, where necessary, are given at the end of this research project.
