This paper examines how airlines are able to apply yield management to maximise their revenue and to achieve competitive advantage. The paper also distinguishes between Low Cost Carriers (LLCs) and Full Service Carriers (FSCs), and explains the differences between the ways in which both employ simple yield management techniques. The potential for yield management to be developed to help airlines’ competitive strategies in the future is explored, as is conclusions in to the topic discussed.
