The dissertation examines the impact that mergers can have on companies' Total Quality Management (TQM) in terms of leadership, strategy, policies, processes, partnerships, resources, and people. Qualitative and quantitative research methods are combined using a review of theoretical literature on mergers and acquisitions (M&A), TQM, etc. Theoretical approaches are applied to the case study of TQM changes in the pre-merger and post-merger performance of Stanbic Bank Nigeria and IBTC Chartered Bank PLC. Conclusions are made about TQM characteristics during the pre- and post-merger periods of the company development.
