The paper examines the practices of banking in Nigeria providing a review of academic literature related to banking, estimating the role of banks in Nigerian economy, conducting Porter's 5 Forces analysis of the environmental factors affecting the banking industry in Nigeria, and presenting a case study of the United Bank of Africa (UBA) from the perspective of their marketing strategies. The study uses the methods of secondary research and primary research based on the questionnaires distributed to the employees of UBA. Recommendations for UBA management are suggested.
