The dissertation examines the use of information technology (IT) solutions in reverse logistics (RL) dealing with the returns of products from end-users for the purpose of recycling. The problem of the electric and electronic equipment waste (WEEE) is addressed exploring the use of the IT-based Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in RL and supply chain management (SCM). Academic literature is reviewed on the features of the WEEE industry, RL research, IT and RFID applications in SCM, etc. The methodology of the research employs a deductive strategy aimed to test the impact of RFID-based IT on RL used by Xerox Corporation for WEEE recycling. Conclusions are made about the contribution of the RFID technology to solving information problems in RL operations. The paper has no references.
