The paper looks at the social, political and economic implications of low wages arguing whether wealth means happiness, and applying Kantian ethics to illustrate the unethical practices of the Disney Corporation, Loch Fyne restaurant group and Thistle hotel and factories in developing countries. Utilitarian and universalistic approaches to ethical decision making are reviewed. Conclusions are made about the harmful impacts of low wages on people and economies.
