The dissertation examines the impact of the information technology (IT) integration on the merger of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Standard Trust Bank (STB) in Nigeria. The review of literature touches on the history of the UBA-STB merger, the features of electronic banking, the theory of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), the background of the Nigerian economy and banking industry, the use of IT in UBA, etc. The methods of the research are based on related secondary data and primary data obtained from questionnaires distributed among the bank’s staff, customers and suppliers. Conclusions are made about their level of satisfaction with the merger in terms of the re-engineering, refocusing and re-branding of the bank’s IT system.
