This dissertation discusses the barriers to knowledge sharing within project teams. The study aims to assess the way in which these barriers affect the success of projects. The objectives are to find out the barriers to knowledge sharing in project teams, to analyse the causes for the barriers, to analyse the importance of these barriers to knowledge sharing in affecting the success of projects based on quality of projects, benefits to organization and benefits to stakeholders, to categorize the different knowledge sharing barriers identified, and to identify the relationship if any between the different barriers to knowledge sharing. The review of literature discusses topics like Standish chaos reports, project planning, agile planning, and project communication. The study uses a range of case studies to further the research, namely Royal Mail, Siemens, Cisco, Accenture, and Thought Works Studios.
