The dissertation investigates the changes in the competitive business environment of South Africa (SA) after the country’s entry to the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Literature is reviewed on the process of SA integration into the global economy, export destinations of their agricultural and non-agricultural products, the impact of WTO on the SA economy and trade, the theory of competitive advantage, the features of small and large businesses, etc. A case study is conducted of South African Breweries (SAB) describing the history and background of SABMiller, their international expansion, brands, profits, growth strategy, etc. The methods of the research are based on the analysis of secondary sources. Conclusions are made about the means of achieving competitive advantage used by the company.
