The following paper will analyse the current strategy of RyanAir, by initially undertaking an environmental analysis of the European airline industry and focus specifically on the implications for the budget sector of the Irish airline compared to other low cost carriers (LCC). Porter’s 5 forces are used as the analysis model. Subsequently it is considered how RyanAir has been successful in the budget airline market, and concludes by assessing the sustainability of the company’s strategy using SWOT analysis.
