The dissertation investigates pay and reward strategies used by the Royal Mail (RM) to manage industrial conflicts. Literature is reviewed on the theory of industrial relations including psychological contract, reward management, the role of human resource, etc. The research uses the primary methods of survey and interviews with the RM staff to examine the potential impact of pay and rewards on the employees in terms of psychological contract. Conclusions are made about employment relationships in RM and the involvement of the employees by the management. Recommendations are suggested about the policies of employee compensation.
