The dissertation explores the outcomes of negative publicity received through newspaper articles on companies' disclosure levels. Literature is reviewed on the role of the media in shaping society attitudes reporting on the MNC exposed by the media, i.e. Cadbury Schweppes, GlaxoSmithKline, Royal Dutch Shell and Tesco. Content analysis is used as a preferred research methods, the relevance of newspaper articles for companies' exposure is studied. Conclusions are made about companies' responses to positive and negative media publicity.
