This proposal is for a study that is based on project communication and success within the NHS. The aims of the study are to determine the extent to which communication impacts upon project success within local Primary Care Trusts, to examine the role played by communication within project management, to explain what constitutes ‘effective’ project communication, to describe effective communication approaches within the organisation in question, to identify obstacles to successful project communication, and to analyse the extent to which theory is mirrored in a real life project setting within the NHS. The research hypotheses are detailed, along with the data collection methods that will be used. The background to the research is discussed, and the limitations and ethical considerations are also examined.
