The dissertation addresses the issues of human resource management (HRM) in the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) looking at the history and current position of the bank, and discussing it in the context of the future development of the workforce within the banking industry. Literature is reviewed on the topics related to NBK efficiency including technical efficiency, market competition, training needs, employee relationships, resistance to change, etc. The research uses secondary data and primary data obtained via a questionnaire distributed among NBK employees. Conclusions are made about the correlation between the theoretical underpinnings of the bank's productivity and the reality of the research findings. Recommendations are suggested about centralization of the NGK management system.
