The paper examines the techniques of risk management in the UK banking industry using a case study of five large banks, i.e. RBS, HSBC, Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group and Standard Chartered Bank. Risk management techniques used by the banks are analyzed and compared to the model techniques recommended by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (Basel II).
