The dissertation investigates the banking concepts of the Islamic interest-free mortgages linking them with the Islamic code of conduct (Shari’ah) and comparing Islamic mortgages in the UK with conventional mortgages using the case study of HSBC Amanah division. The review of literature touches on Islamic mortgages and their evolution within the UK financial system. The methods of the research are based on secondary data and primary data collected via interviews with bank managers. Conclusions are made about the similarities between the conventional mortgage and the Islamic mortgage offered by HSBC Amanah. Proposal for this dissertation is also enclosed.
