The paper addresses the issue of combating the global flu epidemic of Swine flu (H1N1) using a case study of the GSK vaccine unit. Analysis is conducted of the production of regular and swine flu vaccines using the PESTEL model, pharmaceutical industry life cycle analysis, Porter’s Five Forces and SWOT analysis of the GSK vaccine unit, analysis of the unique resources of the GSK vaccine unit, etc. The risk of dividing production between regular vaccine and swine flu vaccine is discussed suggesting the production of both regular and swine flu vaccines by GSK’s vaccine unit.
