The dissertation looks at the theory of Project Management (PM) and PM practices in the Saudi Arabian public sector presenting a case study of PM implementation in the SA public organisation General Directory Military Works (GDMW). The review of literature touches on the origins of PM, PM associations, PM tools and techniques, PM knowledge area, PM skills, PM variations and practices, the influences of culture on PM, the background of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (PESTEL analysis), the profile of GDMW, etc. The study is based on secondary and primary research obtaining primary data through interviews among the GDMW and the ministry of defence personnel. Conclusions are made about the issues of the PM implementation at GDMW outlining the lessons learnt from the research and analysis.
