This dissertation discusses reducing perishability in the cut flower supply chain, and aims to assess the role of RFID technology in this industry. The review of literature discusses supply chain management, supply chain in the perishable goods business, participants in the cut flower business, and RFID technology. The barriers towards RFID technology application are assessed, and the study uses case study analysis. The chosen case studies are FloraHolland, IBM, and DHL. The methodology is provided in detail, and questionnaires are used to collect data. All of the results are analysed, and the dissertation concludes by summarising recommendations.
