The dissertation examines the effects of motivation on employee productivity and customer satisfaction in the United Arab Emirates’ national airline Etihad Airways (EA). Literature is reviewed on the background of EA and the theory of motivation discussing the influence of motivation on employee productivity. The methods of the research are based on secondary data and primary data obtained from a questionnaire distributed among EA staff and interviews with EA customers. Conclusions are made about the effectiveness of EA employee motivation practices, recommendations are suggested to the company management about the methods that can increase and maintain employee motivation and customer satisfaction.

This is a proposal for a study on the relationship between employee motivation, performance and customer motivation at Etihad Airways. The aims of the study are to explore the relationship between employee motivation and customer satisfaction and to find the extent to which employee motivation affects customer satisfaction in Etihad Airways. The plan for the review of literature is detailed, and the study aims to review a range of topics some of which include Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, McGregor’s Theory X and Y, and employee motivation and performance.
