The dissertation investigates environmental and human resource factors influencing the performance of employees in Nigeria offering a case study of HRM issues and practices in Ericsson Nigeria. Literature is reviewed on the political, economic and socio-cultural features of Nigeria, the theory of cultural dimensions by Hofstede, the HRM factors of employee motivation, commitment, etc. The research methods combine quantitative and qualitative analysis of secondary and primary data obtained from interviews with the Nigerian employees of Ericsson. Conclusions are made about the nature of the relationship between employees and their top managers suggesting recommendations for the management of Ericsson Nigeria about their leadership styles, employee remuneration policies, etc.
