The dissertation investigates the usability aspects of an airline ticket reservation (ATR) system presenting a literature review on graphical user interfaces in general and ATR systems in particular, highlighting the features that make IS user friendly, etc. Primary research of ATR systems is conducted subjecting five commercial airlines to usability testing, i.e. British Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, EasyJet and RyanAir. Methodology that should be adopted for the development of the prototype is described, the design of the prototype is detailed and evaluated. Conclusions are made about the findings identifying further areas of research.
