The dissertation looks at the core competencies of DHL examining the impact of the operating resources and capabilities of the company on their market position. The review of literature touches on the theory of operations management (OM), the market-based and the resource-based approaches to the operations strategy, the relationship between operational resources and the company’s competitive advantage, etc. The methods of the research are based on the analysis of secondary academic sources and a case study of OM at DHL including primary data obtained from interviews with the company staff.
