This research proposal has an aim to discover the main factors that lead to the success of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail sector. The case of Carrefour is used in the study. The research employs survey strategy with interview as a data collection method. Interviews are conducted with the managers of the company who are directly associated with FDI activities. The factors that determine the rationale and effectiveness of FDI have been observed in the literature review. Original empirical investigation, however, allows the enhancement of the research and compares the findings with broader literature and the results of previous scholars.
