This paper looks at the British Sky broadcasting (BSkyB) company, one of the UK’s leading providers of satellite and pay TV services as well as the leader in the high definition satellite television segment. It started out by examining the existing product line as well as the market structure of the organization. A SWOT analysis was then carried out on the organization to identify its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats as a form of preliminary internal analysis. For proper understanding and classification of their business dynamics, Michael Porter’s Value Chain approach was applied to identify the primary and support activities within the organization while the PESTLE and Porter’s Five Forces analysis were applied to identify and understand the micro and macro-environmental influences on the sustainability of the organization’s position in the UK’s highly competitive pay TV industry
