The paper addresses the issues of risk management (RM) conducting a case study of RM appraoches used by British Petroleum (BP). Defenitions of risk and RM are presented, BP oil spill disaster of 2010 in the Deepwater Horizon is examined in from the perspective of poor risk managment, contingency planning, corporate governance, etc. Recommendations are suggested about BP future approach towards risk management.
