The paper examines the policies of the UK government and Bank of England between October 2008 and October 2010 aimed to deal with the the recession. The effectiveness of low interest rates and quantitative easing measures implemented by the Bank of England is evaluated, the bank’s ‘bail-outs’ and other supportive measures introduced by the UK Treasury are discussed.
