Airbus and Boeing operate in the global civil aerospace industry where they are the only competitors. These companies have to compete head to head under the conditions, where the winner takes all. So, the strategic management becomes the important factor of the success factor as one of the central purposes of strategy formulation and implementation is the development and sustaining of competitive advantages. The fist part of the picture will be the analysis of the industry, where these companies operate and the nature of business environment. It will shape the contour of the picture. The analysis of business environment will involve internal elements consideration as the influence of the organizational culture and structure, as it partially shapes the environment. Then, the paper will discuss the way the companies compete to describe the internal elements of the picture. The review of strategic event and its drivers and its impact on the Boeing strategy will show the trends of the change that will affect the whole picture. The analysis will apply widely recognized and empirically tested analytical tools as SLEPT analysis and Porter's diamond. It is important to mention that the whole issue around the Boeing-Airbus rivalry is not clear-cut due to allegedly high government involvement and lack of facts on various aspects of the situation.
