Airbus and Boeing operate in the global civil aerospace industry where they are the only competitors. These companies have to compete head to head under the conditions, where the winner takes all. So, the strategic management becomes the important factor of the success factor as one of the central purposes of strategy formulation and implementation is the development and sustaining of competitive advantages. The strategic event, described in the case study changed the market equilibrium. The paper will analyze this strategic event from various perspectives in order to put together different parts of mosaics that will depict the holistic picture of the event. Then, the paper will discuss the way the companies compete to describe the internal elements of the picture. The review of strategic event and its drivers and its impact on the Boeing strategy will show the trends of the change that will affect the whole picture. The analysis will apply widely recognized and empirically tested analytical tools as SLEPT analysis and Porter's diamond. It is important to mention that the whole issue around the Boeing-Airbus rivalry is not clear-cut due to allegedly high government involvement and lack of facts on various aspects of the situation. Therefore, the paper will try to develop unbiased approach in the analysis with sound use of various sources of publicly available information.
