Criteria for Successful Entry

• Your SWOT analysis should ideally be around 500 words, the minimum amount of words that will be accepted is 300 and the maximum is 1000. This does not include References and/or bibliography. Appendices are not allowed.

• You do not need to explain what SWOT analysis is. Your paper should concisely provide a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the company you have selected.

• Your SWOT analysis should start with a short overview of the company which should not exceed 20% of the total word count.

• Harvard Referencing is required.

• SWOT analysis should contain at least five references. You MUST refer to newspaper and journal articles, academic articles, industry reports (e.g. Mintel) in addition to books.

• Plagiarism is strictly forbidden and will result in disqualification. If you use three or more consecutive words which are taken from a written or oral statement; put them in quotations and include the reference and source in the references or bibliography section.

• The company you select for your SWOT analysis is entirely up to you, however you must ensure that you can obtain sufficient information about this company.

• In order to avoid duplication and to allow you a fair and equal chance of winning, we have excluded the following companies from the competition
Tesco, McDonalds, BMW, Coca-Cola, Google, Marks and Spencer, Microsoft, BT,
DaimlerChrysler, Nestlé, Procter and Gamble, RyanAir and Unilever
