The paper examines the Afro-Caribbean and the South Asian (Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis) population in the UK reviewing the history of their migration and comparing their cultural features, family structures, marriage rules, etc. The role of women in both cultural contexts is examined discussing the features of ethnically-mixed families, women's labour participation, etc.
