S/S/163. Prostitution and Human Rights

The paper examines societal attitudes towards prostitution arguing whether it can be considered a form of work involving the provision of services in exchange of money. Literature is reviewed on the roots of prostitution including the gender inequality, the earlier forms of prostitution, the debate around human rights and societal self-determination vs. the limitations of society, submission to the majority in society, government policies on prostitution, the meaning of the prostitution contract, etc.
