S/MD/65. To what extent is the British newspaper market a pluralist market?

The paper examines the British newspaper market from the perspective of a pluralist democracy discussing its autonomy and independence from the state. The features of the press in a capitalist society are outlined; the influence of the press on social, economic and political aspects of the society is discussed arguing whether the press confirms the existing social hierarchy.
