S/LI/13. Analysis of the Russian Short Story 'Asya' by I.S. Turgenev
(2003, 2500 words)
The short story, Asya is one of love and romance primarily, but also often delves into areas of naivety and of sadness due to pure stupidity and ignorance. Therefore I believe that Turgenev wrote this book straight from his heart, as a depiction of a too often occurring scenario. I feel that the point I have made of love and sadness is reinforced by the interpretation given by Joe Andrew: "As in Asya, so too in all his works, love brings energy and excitement, but only for a brief moment"1
