S/LI/12. Russian Lyric Poetry - 'Compare the treatment of love in the poetry of Akhmatova and Mayakovsky.'

Both Vladimir Mayakovsky and Anna Akhmatova have written large amounts of poetry based around love or anguish. In fact each poet is now known for their poems of love and tragedy, and so in comparing the two I must concentrate around some certain poems. These two poets both cast a similar image in my opinion, one of lost loves and desperate attempts to find love. When discussing about Akhmatova I shall be mainly looking at her early poetry, which seems to have a more obvious basis on love. Mayakovsky's early works again are very useful
