The paper examines the concept of globalisation providing a review of its definitions and focusing on the economic globalisation. Literature is reviewed on the agencies that have contributed to globalisation, "Europeanisation" and "westernization" including IMF, the World Bank, etc. The role of free trade in globalization is argued; the influences of globalization on the tourist industry are explored.
