In the US the use of incineration technology continued to rise until the late 1980s, however the bubble burst in the early 1990s as incineration was declared very harmful to the environment. Nowadays incineration continues within the US as new, more efficient units replace law breaking old ones. This report illustrates the modern day incineration process, along with its associated pollutants. The pollutants and their effects on both the environment and the human body are described in detail
