The paper examines the concept of logistics providing its definition, an overview of its evolution, its present day role, functions and areas. A case study of Multico, a fictious company supplying parts for the aerospace industry, is conducted analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of their strategy. A personal experience in a production simulation exercise is reviewed discussing the team’s approaches to forecasting, inventory management, capacity management and break-even analysis, and offering recommendations for Multico on the effective fulfilment of customer demand.
