The dissertation aims to determine a re-entry strategy for the expansion of Vodacom, subsidiary of Vodafone, into Nigerian market after their failed attempt to do it previously. The review of literature covers the issues of internalization, transaction cost theory, eclectic paradigm, modes of foreign market entry, multi-national enterprises (MNE), the history of Vodacom / Vodafone in Nigeria, Nigerian economy and telecommunications industry, Vodafone details, etc. The research is based on the qualitative approach and the case study method including collection of secondary and primary data (group interviews, questionnaires) and their interpretation. Recommendations are given to facilitate Vodafones integration into Nigerian environment. The research proposal focuses on the potentials of Vodafones re-entry into Nigeria providing a review of events around Vodafones unsuccessful involvement in Nigeria in 2003, reporting on Nigerian Telecommunications industry, and providing a literature review on various modes of a foreign market entry, eclectic theory, oligopolistic hypothesis, location hypothesis, etc. Research methods and timetable are identified.
