The dissertation investigates the issues of corruption in Turkey identifying variables that are significant to the levels of corruption and suggesting an anti-corruption policy of reforms. Academic literature is reviewed identifying the phenomenon of corruption, its effect on the economy, the Óspeedy moneyÔ theory, Óincentive paymentsÔ theory, etc. The influence of red tape freedom, private investment, underdeveloped markets and other factors on the level of corruption is discussed. Analysis of secondary data is conducted to identify a cross sectional association between corruption and public sector wage, regulations and the level of transparency. Conclusions are made about the factors that determine corruption levels.
