P/EI/103. Access to Internet: problem of digital divide

The paper examines the effects of the Internet dissemination focusing on the concept of the �digital divideŽ. Literature is reviewed on the problems of ICT diffusion, forms of barriers to the Internet access, and multiple facets of the digital divide. The Atlanta cybercenters initiative is described and evaluated; the role of geography in the digital divide is discussed.
