This paper looks at the global oil industry and its operator: BP. The purpose of this report is to analyse the company and suggest how can B.P. build and sustain competitive advantage. for the analysis of the company different strategic models were used: Gap Analysis, SWOT Analysis, PEST Analysis, Boston Matrix, Porter's 5 Forces, Ansoff's Matrix, Financial Analysis, Competitive Analysis and Bowman's Strategy Clock. Company's financial analysis is also performed. Thereafter, analysis of different generic models (by Porter) was made and BP is suggested an optimal strategy for each generic strategy. Participation in strategic alliances and expansion into new products and services (Ansoff) as also being explored as the possible options. Lastly, report provides the summary of findings and recommendations for the short and long runs.
