P/B/295. Analysis of Slovak chemical industry in early 2000s

The paper expresses concern about the slow-down of the chemical industry in Slovakia in 2003 and subjects it to analysis. An overview of the European and global chemical market is given with emphasis placed on the forecasts of Cefic, the chemical companies association. The major developments in the chemical and pharmacological sphere are analysed, statistical coverage of the production indexes is given. Outlining the key factors of success the author defines the main strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within the framework of SWOT analysis. The paper then offers an overview of the main chemical and pharmaceutical companies operating in Slovakia.
