This dissertation is considering the issue of success of the organisation in both financial and non-financial terms. In the literature review writer is analysing different measurements of success including performance measurement frameworks. Second part of the literature review is analysing the applicability of success measurements to the retail industry and outlines the success factors for the UK retailing industry. Primary data collection consisted of in-depth interviews. Third part of the dissertation contains financial and non-financial analysis of success of Harrods, which includes financial ratios, critical factors of success, measurement of its retail performance and comparison with competitors. Important conclusions are drawn upon the research findings on whether Harrods could or could not be considered a successful company.
