The paper examines the concept of sustainable development (SD) reviewing academic studies on the advantages of sustainability approach, the Levy agreement on climate change, ISO 14000-14001 standards, management principles of environmental protection, limitations of SD implementation, etc. Examples of company policies towards sustainable enterprise are discussed including Energy Star partnership, Grameen Bank, Shell, etc.
