The paper examines the relationship between religion and the media from the perspective of psychology. The influence of the media on attitudes towards religion is argued to be exerted through explicit and implicit processes. Psychological principles of attribution and stereotyping are described including the treatment by the media of Islamic issues/ Conclusion is made that the media has a significant negative influence on shaping public attitudes towards religion.
