The aim of the research is to explore the necessary and complementary relationship between total quality and strategic management. Followed by the investigation of the role of quality management (QM) in GSK and how its implementation can be or planned to be improved by the company. The research will also aim to: Outline the links in between quality and strategy in pharmaceutical industry identifying why are they of such a particular concern to the industry and players (including GSK) within it? Follow the historic development of the link in between quality and strategy - what has changed over the decades? What is Quality Management/Total Quality Management in the pharmaceutical sector? What is its significance? Outline the role, procedures and stances of quality management in GSK, tracking the changes within them over the past two decades paying particular interest to the mergers of 1995 and 2000? Learn about and analyse the future trends in the quality management for pharmaceutical sector and GSK in particular from academic and practical sources. Compare and contrast results making conclusions and recommendations for the future. Possibly outline any threats or opportunities for the company, arising from the findings and analysis.
