This discussion deals with the leadership potential and development within the tourism industry and the lessons that could be learned from hospitality leaders as also the skills in leadership and human resource management within small tourism businesses. An analysis is done on the entrepreneurial skills required in business leadership as well as human resource management with special reference to tourism businesses. The significance of motivation and employee expectations is highlighted. Emphasis is also given on the need to make leadership development programmes and management skills more market oriented.
